Hello again,

I just made my manolator un experiment-printboard. It works fine, some times.
When I put 255 on a random channel, al the dmx stuff that is controlled by the manolator, gets crazy. The scans act like there is a moment no dmx, go to their start position, and then come back to the position that is set on the PC. And then they act like the signal drops away again...
I have put 2 leds antiparallel between the DMX+ en DMX- wires, to check what happens. I can see that the leds blink (one at a time) very slowly when I put 255 on a random channel.

Does anyone know how to fix this?

Thx,

I was having simaler problems to to you and i found that moving any printers that were using lpt1 to lpt2 as well as stopping the print spooler service cleared up all the problems.

I also had issues with strange things happening when i first built the interface and re-flashing the pic solved most of them.

Re: Data gets corrupted when I put 255 on a random channel
Hello:

As you can read in many posts of this forum manolator interface is not very stable with modern computers.

Old computers with windows 98 OS can connect directly with the ports of the pc, but other windows OS like 2000 and xp dont let programs to access directly to the ports of the pc protecting them with a layer...

Because this reason and also the very fast cpu that we got today make that manolator interface is very unstable cause the software can communicate with the parallel port faster than the interface connected to it can answer.

I hope you understand, try to download the test program in the MORE secction and change some settings in the parameter that you can find there. Maybe you will discover the loop times that can work with your modern cpu.

I use to say that now it is a better choice opendmx usb interface from enttec than manolator cause is faster, easier and more stable.

Other users like to try this project cause they have old computer or simply they like to experiment.

I hope you undestand that maybe some projects in the web are a little bit old but are there for other people to learn.

cheers.
