Re: Last version of Manolator software
FYI. Regarding the USB interface SOH DMX-512 module from www.svetla.org. First test with Manulator latest official version worked on the fly. This interface uses a FTDI 232 chip, which was recognised by XP sp2 on power on. Driver installation was without problems. The interface was recognised by Manolator Enttec Opendmx univ1 directly and basic tests were fine. A productive test will follow.
regards,
Herman

Re: Last version of Manolator software
Two remarks from my site.
Today's laptops offer the attachment of an additional monitor. This gives the possibility to work with two screens. Therefor is is handy to have two manolator screens. But it is great already.
By the way it is getting interesting with Windows 7 as it supports Touch screens.

For your information Manuel, i have tested your latest release with the manulator on lpt1, 378, on several laptops, f.i. Dell, IBM etc. with min. Windows XP SP2 and it worked without any problems sofar. Even with docking stations. With the old software release i could not get it running.
The clear all button does not reset the sliders. Is this as designed?

Thanks,
Herman

Re: Last version of Manolator software
Hello:

The new code to manage the manolator interface is base into an idea of the guy developed the driver to use manolator with Virtual Dj (sorry, I cant remember your name now but thanks a lot).

This new code checks the CPU speed of the computer by making some testings and then it set the correct loop values. Also I added the necessary code to run the driver into a separate thread for a better performance.

As it is a new code maybe needs to be tunned a little but one user made some testings into very different CPUs and all of them was ok.

The "two screens" question is a thing that I must to consider cause was a lot of work join the two screens.

The "All Off" is the old "PlayDesk off" and that is the reason do not set the sliders to off. Maybe I can modify this but also can be ok to let some things on ... imagine you use the slider to set some manual values and you got a winamp song with the first event as all off, this lets you to not to let the room absolutely black but your point of view is also correct so I dont know what to do.

If you want the source of this new version to adapt it to your needs let me know.

cheers.

Re: Last version of Manolator software
About the usb interface I found this

http://www.robot-electronics.co.uk/acatalog/Serial_Interface.html

It is an Usb to RS485 for £16.33 (Excluding VAT at 15%) that I wonder if it will work... Can anyone test it?

Cheers.

Re: Last version of Manolator software
Hello:

About the 24 output sliders note that you got the scroll bar to move the channels up and down. This makes easier to manage channels that belong to a fixture that can be divided into separate pages if a fixed number of channels per page is used.

It is a different way to work but with so much extra channels to manage is better in my opinion.

About the non working interfaces this is new for me cause, I used the same code as used in the Masterpeace software and I supposed it was adapted correctly. Please try Masterpeace with your interface and let me know what you get, please.

Now I dont have a manolator interface to test so maybe I must to built one to debug the app.

Thanks for your comments, I am happy to know about you again.

Cheers.

Nice design. You did quite a lot of working on the interfaces, which is good. I spend whole last week finding out how to get the manolator to run with new hardware because the old hard & software is not compatible anymore. Reading through the forum i found someone using the usb SOH interface, which is available for a nice price. I have though of designing some hardware, but i got lost in doing the dll stuff. Just ordered this now and will see what is does.
Well, my comment on your new version:
great design on one screen, but missing second screen with more channels(25-72). Krystofs' screen was good to have. So just copy your mainscreen modify it a little bit to have 48 more channels as an additional screen. Should not be a great problem, but costs plenty of time of course.
As i have self done some testing on your source, i know what a lot of time it costs to keep designing.
Thanks a lot of keeping your comunity happy with your great products. Keep going please.
Regards,
Herman
